The original Sunbeam Theatre opened in 1972 in North Point, emerging as Hong Kong's premier venue for Cantonese opera. The venue earned its reputation as the 'Grand Palace for Cantonese Opera', hosting countless performances by legendary artists. Its significance was internationally recognised when Time Magazine listed watching traditional Cantonese opera at Sunbeam Theatre as one of Asia's 25 must-experience attractions.
