Little Hawaii Waterfall, one of the most popular waterfalls in Hong Kong, is located in suburb between Tseung Kwan O and Tseng Lan Shue. Its vertical drop is not as significant as Ng Tung Chai waterfall in Tai Po. Nonetheless, its easily accessible location makes it a favourite choice for local morning walkers and tourists, with only 35-minute walk from Po Lam MTR Station.
From Po Lam MTR Station, passing Tseung Kwan O Village, you will see a signage at the starting point of Little Hawaii Trail. 5 minutes down the trail, you will encounter a crossroad with four directions: Yau Yue Wan, Tseung Kwan O Village, Au Tau, Tseng Lan Shue. Don't be tempted to go straight towards Tseng Lan Shue (the direction in which you will finish the Little Hawaii Trail). Leave the trail for a moment towards Au Tau and you will see the waterfall.
Unlike waterfalls with high vertical drop, Little Hawaii Waterfall spreads across the slope. Adventurous travellers can climb up for multiple levels of "little waterfalls". Another breathtaking scene was to witness unattended children jumping over the wet and slippery rocks with mosses. Be warned!
Returning back to the crossroad, you may choose to leave via Tseung Kwan O Village (where you came from), or continue the trail towards Tai Ngau Wu (a disappeared artificial lake which was once a flour mill and later on turned into a swimming pool).
